The Movie : The Garbage Revolution

Garbage! The Revolution Starts at Home is a feature documentary about how the family household has become one of the most ferocious environmental predators of our time. Concerned for the future of his new baby boy Sebastian, writer and director Andrew Nisker takes an average urban family, the McDonalds, and asks them to keep every scrap of garbage that they create for three months. He then takes them on a journey to find out where it all goes and what it’s doing to the world. From organic waste to the stuff they flush down the potty, the plastic bags they use to the water they drink out of bottles, the air pollution they create when transporting the kids around, to using lights at Christmas, the McDonalds discover that for every action there is a reaction that affects them and the entire planet. Everyday life under a microscope has never been so revealing. By the end of this trashy odyssey, you are truly inspired to revolutionaize your lifestyle for the sake of future generations

Revolution Begins Here

In celebrating the 40th World Earth Day in April 2010, Anplas Bag takes the opportunity to support Mega Earth Day 2010 event, organized by Friends of Kota Damansara (FoKD) together with Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya (MBPJ) and Global Environment Facility (GEF), which will be held in Kota Damansara Community Forest Park, Selangor, on the 24th and 25th of April, 2010.

In contributing its part at Mega Earth Day 2010 event, Anplas bag will be sponsoring a large piece of Canvas cloth which will serve as the backdrop of the Performance stage where VIP guests will be invited to print their palms using Pelaka onto the backdrop as a sign of their promises to protect our environment during its opening ceremony.  After the Event, the backdrop will be recycled into recycled Eco-Friendly Anplas bags which will be donated for charitable purposes.

Anplas bag is a type of handmade bag, which is made from natural Canvas raw material. Besides being a durable bag, it is also recyclable in the environmental context. Its special and meaningful design has added its value for being a trendy and stylish bag to be used! A hand palm has been used for its bag design in order to bring an implication that everything should start from our hands if we want to make a change to save our mother nature. On each finger of the hand palm, there will be a question suggesting the possible solution to the Plastic Bag issue in Malaysia.

In order to spread the message of BYOB (Bring Your own Bag) efficiently, a Green Revolution has been initiated by Anplas Bag to make a change against the habitual abuse of plastic bags by human beings. The objective of green revolution is to discourage people from excessively taking and using plastic bags by practicing the habit of bringing their own eco-friendly bags for their grocery shopping trips. Its slogan is “The Green Revolution Begins Here!” which signifies that the process of preserving our environment begins from the simplest step of stop using plastic bags. Its ultimate mission is to make Malaysia free from the environmental hazards brought about by Plastic bag!

In enhancing the value of Anplas Bag, 2 further elements have been created: “Buy a Bay, Save a Forest” and “Buy a Bag, FREEee T-shirt”. Under “Buy a Bag, Save a Forest”, RM 5.00 per Anplas bag sold will be donated to Global Environment Centre, a registered non-profit organization in Malaysia, for sponsoring a Tree-Plating Event at Raja Musa Peat Swamp forest reserve.

Under “Buy a Bag, FREEee T-shirt”, 1000 Limited Edition “Shout Out” T-shirts which bear the Malaysian Green Voices will be given out for free redemption by Anplas bag owners at an event.

Besides sponsoring for the stage backdrop of Mega Earth Day 2010 event, 200 Anplas bags worth RM 39.00 will be given out for free redemption on a first come first served basis in order to encourage the public to take part in the Anplas Bag Green Revolution. Simply cut this report from our local newspaper and redeem a Free Anplas bag by attending the Mega Earth Day Event 2010 event at Kota Damansara Community Forest Park on the 25th of April, 2010.
